About Us
The Sleeping Lady – how does it get its name?
The property gets its name from the spectacular view of a silhouette of a sleeping lady created by a number of the peaks in the Stirling Ranges.
Locals tell us that it possibly comes from an Aboriginal story about a young couple who came from different tribes that weren’t allow to marry. The girl ran away and was tracked down and executed.
The boy looked everywhere for her. When he found her, he was so distraught that he lay down next to her to stay forever…
Nichola & Ben Broad
The Sleeping Lady experience is all about the beautiful location, the personal touch and a warm welcome from friendly Porongurup locals.
After living in many different places over the years, both in Australia and the UK, Nichola and Ben saw an opportunity to move to Porongurup with their children in 2013, after falling in love with the place during a family holiday.
As a small family run business, we delight in making sure that each and every guest has a great stay at The Sleeping Lady.
We are really proud to offer self-contained accommodation and share this special piece of paradise with guests from all over the world and are thrilled to have many guests returning again and again.
We look forward to welcoming you to beautiful Porongurup and are delighted to receive such fantastic reviews from our guests.
Best wishes – see you soon!

Millie -You can always be assured of a warm and friendly welcome
Millie, our friendly border collie, welcoming committee and chief of entertainment, will be happy to greet you with a wagging tail! The owners live in the main house further up the hill from the chalet, so are on-hand to assist guests with anything they need, queries or local knowledge. We know how special time together on holiday is, so want guests to be comfortable and we are happy to help you make the most of your visit.
Little touches and comforts conjure a feeling of home away from home.
